A message from our Managing Director, Cheryl Brown

Coronavirus FAQs

Our 'Go boating with confidence' policy

To give you additional peace of mind during this period of uncertainty, we will allow you to cancel any holiday departing on or before 30th June 2020, up to 48 hours before departure. You may either amend it to a later date or receive a booking credit which can applied to any future holiday departing in 2020 or 2021. We hope this means you’ll continue to book and travel with Le Boat with confidence.

The policy includes all holidays, whether existing or new, departing on or before 30th June 2020 to any Le Boat destination.

All booking credit must be redeemed against holidays that end/return no later than 29th October 2021

Please call us. And remember you must notify us by phone of your wish to amend or cancel at least 48 hours before your departure date. Call volumes may be higher than normal and we thank you for your patience.

If your new holiday is cheaper, we will refund the difference. If it is more, you will need to pay the additional cost. We will explore all the available options with you and try our best to find a holiday of similar value.

If you wish to cancel your booking before your balance is due, we will retain your deposit for use against a future booking.

If you wish to amend your departure date to a later date (no later than 2021) – your balance due date will be recalculated based on your new departure date.

If you wish to keep you booking in place so you can decide later on whether to amend or cancel, you must pay your balance in accordance with our usual terms and conditions. You may then subsequently decide to amend or cancel, in accordance with the above policy, if you wish.

As we need to allow enough time to prepare for customer arrivals and get our boats ready, we needs a full 48 hours before 2pm on your day of departure to process your cancellation.

Regardless of the reason, you can cancel/amend your booking under this policy, up to 48hr prior to departure. After this time, if any of the following reasons suddenly prevent you from travelling to your booked destination, you can still cancel (for a booking credit) or amend your booking (with no change fees) as per this policy.

  • Your Government’s Foreign Office advises against ‘all‘ or ‘all but essential travel‘ there.
  • There is a border closure or localised lockdown (either at my destination or in my home country) prevents me from leaving or getting there.
  • My flight stops in an affected area that is deemed unsafe and thus it is cancelled.
  • I, or a member of my party, contract a confirmed case of Coronavirus.
  • I am specifically advised or instructed to self-quarantine, or put into quarantine by the authorities

We will of course continue to monitor developments and update our policies if and when necessary.

As it stands at the moment, you can continue to book or look forward to your holiday after 30th June, safe in the knowledge that – if any of the follow reasons prevent you from travelling to your destination either now or in the future, our ‘Go boating with confidence’ policy will still apply.

  • I, or a member of my party, is specifically advised or instructed to self-quarantine, or put into quarantine by the authorities

If neither of the above circumstances apply, then you can proceed with your holiday as planned. If you should decide to change or cancel your booking in this instance, our standard booking terms and conditions will apply. We advise you to check your travel insurance policy to see if you are covered.

Le Boat is the market leading provider of boating holidays across Europe and Canada, and we have been successfully operating for more than 50 years. We also have the security of being part of Travelopia, the world’s largest collection of specialist travel brands, and we have the full support of our owner KKR, one of the world’s largest global equity firms. We are in a very strong position.

Other concerns about Coronavirus

With many countries on lock down and travel severely restricted it’s not a great time to holiday right now – which is why we have delayed the opening of all our European bases until 20th April 2020.

As soon as restrictions are lifted, we are looking forward to giving our customers the opportunity to enjoy some much-needed time away - to explore the great outdoors once more and spend some quality time together with friends and family, who we may not have seen for a while. And a boating holiday makes for the perfect escape.

Yes- this policy applies to all new bookings, as well as existing booking. So you can book in the confidence that you can cancel up to 48hrs prior to departure should you need to.

The situation is changing very fast and we advise you to refer to Foreign Office advise about how Coronavirus is effecting outbound travel from this country, as well as inbound travel to each of our destinations.

With regards to how our bases are affected:

EUROPE: Owing to the closure of many non-essential establishments, such as restaurants and cafes, which includes the operation of locks in some countries, we have delayed opening all our bases in Europe until Monday 20th April 2020. We will be in touch with all customers who were due to travel before this date, to discuss alternative holiday arrangements.

CANADA: Due to open on 15th May, 2020 as scheduled.

All our boats are thoroughly cleaned at the end of each holiday, and we have introduced a new disinfectant spray as an additional measure for extra protection.  We deep clean all of our boats at the start of the holiday season, and will continue to follow our clear and comprehensive cleaning procedures in between each customer departure, regardless of whether the departing customer has paid for an end-of-cruise cleaning service or not.

If the Government (either at home or that of your booked destination) advises you to leave the country you are travelling in and you decide to cut short your holiday, we will calculate the cost of the unused portion of your holiday and retain this as credit which you can use towards a future Le Boat holiday. We will do as much as we can to help you arrange your own repatriation. There may also be assistance available from your country’s Foreign Office or else you should contact your travel insurance provider to see if you are covered.

You should seek medical advice by calling the appropriate medical authority. If you have NOT contracted Coronavirus, you may still amend of cancel your holiday in accordance with our ‘Go boating with confidence’ policy, so long as you notify us more than 48hrs prior to departure. Otherwise, our standard terms and conditions would apply. Please consult your travel insurance policy to see if you are covered in this instance. If you are officially confirmed to have contracted Coronavirus, the conditions of our ‘Go boating with confidence’ policy would apply right up until departure.

In the event that you or a member of your party have Coronavirus symptoms or are diagnosed during your trip please isolate yourself on board your boat and seek local medical advice. Please also contact our local base team immediately so we can assist you with the next steps. You should also refer to your travel insurance provider as to whether you are able to claim medical expenses benefits.

If you are officially confirmed to have contracted Coronavirus and need to cut short your holiday, we will calculate the cost of the unused portion of the holiday and retain this as credit which you can use towards a future Le Boat holiday.

As we are sure you can appreciate our phone lines are extremely busy at the moment, so please bear with us whilst we support customers with imminent departure dates.
