Our Covid Safety Charter

New cleaning protocols, social distancing measures and more... to help prevent the spread of the virus.

As well as ensuring you have a fun and enjoyable boating holiday, your safety is of paramount important to us. As such, we have carefully reviewed and adapted many of our procedures in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus at our bases as much as possible. So, relax and start looking forward to the holiday you deserve.

Our bases

OUR BASES

  • Surfaces and high-use touchpoints in reception will be regularly cleaned and disinfected throughout the day.
  • The number of guests allowed in reception is limited to one per booking and, at our bases with smaller receptions, only one customer in total will be allowed in reception at any given time – please be guided by base staff on arrival.
  • Floor markings will help customers to observe 2m social distancing guidelines.
  • New signage is in place to encourage social distancing and regular hand washing.
  • Only card payments accepted and card transaction machines will be disinfected after each guest has used them.
  • Hand sanitiser will be available in our reception areas.
  • Reception areas will be disinfected at the end of every working day.
  • Perspex screens will shield our customer and colleagues while at our reception desks.
  • Toilets and showers at bases will be closed - customer should use their onboard facilities. 

Our boats

OUR BOATS

  • Cleaners wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) will thoroughly clean each boat, paying close attention to high-use areas such as steering and navigation controls, doors and handles, bathrooms and showers, as well as external seats, tables and controls. They will then disinfect all inside surfaces including floors, curtains, cushion, upholstery and mattresses with disinfectant spray supplied by IPC, experts in biotechnology which kills all types of bacteria and viruses – including coronavirus.
  • All onboard documents (i.e. navigation charts, manuals, etc) will be cleaned with disinfectant wipes between customers.
  • Bed linen and towels are washed at high temperature and left inside your boat. We will leave beds unmade to reduce any further contact by our team.
  • If any symptoms of Coronovirus are reported by a customer while on holiday, their boat will be deep-cleaned and left for at least 72 hours before next use, in accordance with government and industry guidelines.

Our base team

OUR BASE TEAM

  • Base staff will not report for work if they display symptoms of Coronavirus
  • Our base team will exercise social distance practices and will wear gloves and face mask wherever required (i.e. if local government advise stipulates or whenever social distancing measures are difficult to observe – such as during pre-departure briefings).
  • Our base staff will welcome guests with a smile – but will not offer a handshake – we hope you will understand.
  • Base staff will regularly wash their hands

Our processes

OUR PROCEDURES

  • To reduce the amount of time our guest spend in reception and in public areas, we’re asking customers to carrying out as many check-in requirements prior to their arrival as possible. This includes some ‘must do’ actions as well as the opportunity to take part in a virtual Area and Navigation Briefing (except for Germany, Italy and Canada). Guest will also receive a call from base staff 48-72hrs prior to departure to confirm their arrival time and complete other check-in formalities. See getting ready’ page for more details.
  • Arrival times of each booking will be staggered as much as possible to reduce the amount of guest on site at any one time. See ‘Your arrival’ page for more details.

ALSO...

  • Government advice about wearing face masks varies by country, and local advice may require you to wear one while in our reception areas. Shops and eateries may impose their own stipulations as well and so you may wish to bring a face mask for everyone in your group. At the very least though, your nominated Captain and 2nd-in-charge will be required to wear a mask during pre-departure briefing where social distancing measure will be difficult to maintain.
  • Guests must not travel to our bases if they are displaying coronavirus symptoms. For more on this and for details about our flexible rebooking terms which would apply in these circumstances, visit our Coronavirus FAQs.
  • If guests require medical assistance or advice during their cruise, they should call our base team who can assist. They can establish where guests are and will know the closest and most appropriate source of healthcare provision, such as local hospitals, walk-in clinics or medical helplines. Base contact numbers, as well as the number for emergency services, are provided on all our boats.
