Emerald Star base and staff were all very good and we got checked in and out very quickly The boat was well maintained and we enjoyed our trip very much One area I would look at is the description of the deposit for Fuel. Ours was €275 and I expected a lot back as we did 20 hours cruising. However, we were charged €12.50 per engine hour and this does not relate to fule hours. I got about €40 euro back. Seems like I am being charged for maintenace as well as fuel and I though it should be fuel only as thats what its called. I assumed the renatal cost covered the maintenance Great trip - very enjoyable

Met with very friendly staff and that helpfulness and friendliness carried on throughout our week cruising. Had a couple of things we needed help/advice on and it was immediate. The boat itself was lovely and spotlessly clean - would advise getting a boat with a little more capacity than you need - otherwise there will be 2 sleeping in the sitting room area - and they are really easy to manage. Worth noting that your petrol allowance can ramp up very quickly as it's calculated on your actual motoring time - and when you are chugging away at a slow relaxed pace and doing an hour or two a day - it can add up quickly (we spent 5 and a half days on the water, pootling around a bit every day - and the petrol cost us over €200) - Still so worth it though - Step on board and let the world just disappear as you sail off. One of the very best ways to get away from the stress of work and Covid - so easy while ambling down the river to completely forget there are any challenges at home at all.....

Le boat did a fantastic job. Boat in good condition and well prepared. Briefing just adequate. Le boat were recommended to us and we would be happy to do the same. Our boat was in good condition and was well prepared. Loved the Lot River with all it's varied scenery and amazing towns / villages. Bikes were really useful and also in good condition. Beware that bare boat hire is just that, not even a spare roll of toilet paper.(Annoying when you are travelling by train / taxi). Only hitch was the briefing which was a little rushed and did not cover everything on board. (We had a problem with the gas and had to put in a remote service call. The service man who came out was not amused and told us we should have been able to solve the problem ourselves by resetting the gas bottle. As we were not even told where the gas bottle was located, let alone how to reset it, we felt this inconvenient service call was of their own making). Otherwise a memorable experience.
Hi Daryl, thank you for your feedback. We're so glad that you had a great holiday and we look forward to welcoming you back on board another cruise soon.

We were very happy with the service. Kate in the Australian office was very helpful. When our itinerary had to change due to low water she communicated this in a timely manner. We felt that the briefing at Decize was a little too brief and that there was no explanation of safety features on the boat..eg how to use fire extinguishers. One of the best holidays I have had.
Hi Elaine, thank you for your feedback and I’m really sorry you were disappointed with the initial briefing and the length of the instruction. Our local teams are contactable before and during your cruise to try and make the experience as enjoyable and stress-free as possible so it’s disappointing to know you didn’t have the relaxing experience you, and we, would have wanted. If we can be of any further help at all, please feel free to contact our team at [email protected]

We had a fantastic short break on the Caprice from Portumna. Excellent service at base both when collecting and returning the boat and particular mention to Timmy and Sarah. Also to Ivan who kindly showed us some of the other available rental boats - we have already booked another trip next Easter based on this. The Caprice was a comfortable boat and everything worked well, the shore power was a bonus so we could have plenty of heat and hot water. I would happily recommend Emerald Star to anyone. Great trip - we really enjoyed ourselves and we wil be back

Very friendly staff, boat was well prepared and ready for us. Excellent handover as well. Bit of a delay for the boat handover, but that was not the yards fault, about 6 groups turned up together! This is a stunning area to cruise, the whole experience was wonderful. This was a once in a lifetime holiday for us, the boat was perfect and even the weather was fairly well behaved! Stunning scenery, excellent fun through the locks, but also, so tranquil whilst cruising. There were only 2 of us on Caprice, I am not sure if it would suit a family with young children as the steps up to the top deck could be an issue, would be OK for 4 adults I think, but no more than that. Nice toilets and showers, cooker and fridge we're fine.as well.
