Louhans is a charming town, full of character, ideal for your first night if you are looking for a bar or a restaurant.

What is there to see?

Louhans is famous for its arcade of 157 arches, its cobbled main street, and its market is well known thoughout the region.

What can I visit?

The arcades which shelter a wide variety of shops; and the big market which takes place every Monday morning,when horses and farm animals are traded, alongside a food and produce market and a clothes fair.

Is this place famous for anything?

The region is particularly well known for its celebrated Bresse chicken which carries an Appelation Contolé and is produced in strictly controlled conditions.

No, but Gérard Depardieu , a star of French film and theatre, likes to visit the market.

Mooring

The harbour office with a floating pontoon can be found just before the railway bridge, on the right bank going upstream. Mooring is free, water and electricity available. If you continue under the railway bridge, you will find another small fixed pontoon opposite the supermarket SPAR (This is also free, but without water & electricity).
