Why do we recommend stopping here?

There are moorings in the port, conveniently situated close to the restaurants, the city centre is just a 5 minute walk away and there are toilets and showers on the quay

What is there to see?

Blain offers a rich historic heritage. Discover the Castle de la Groulais from 12th century, it was one of the most important fortress in Brittany. It houses now an artistic exhibition centre and an old printing factory.

What can I visit?

Castle of Blain, a medieval fortress built in 1104 by Duke of Brittany Alain IV Fergent : the public part of the château is open from March to October, Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 12 noon and from 2.30pm to 6.30pm.

Museum of Blain : Arts and Traditions
Museum of Blain : Arts and Traditions (Located in the former town hall, opposite the church, Blain museum proposes its collection of "fèves des rois" - collectors' items which are produced in sets and cooked inside Epiphany cakes). Also the museum which has been recently restored houses a lively exhibitions of arts and crafts and commercial activities in the Blain are at the beginning of the 20th century. A room dedicated to prehistory and Gallo-Roman times displays remarkable relics such as Decebal's vase and the statue of Cernunos, the Gallic god. The visitors can see a significant collection of Christmas cribs from French provinces and different countries. On the ground floor, temporary exhibitions can be seen all year round.

The Forest of the Groulais is ideal for walks, cycling and it attracts lots of nature lovers in all seasons (very rich fauna and flora) // Cinema in the town centre.

Is there anything else worth mentioning?

The Saint Laurent Festival : this festival which is over a hundred years old is held at the beginning of August. Decorated floats and bands parade through the streets. There is also an open-air evening meal followed by fireworks. //// Also The Medieval Festival : it takes place over two weekends mid-September in the appropriate setting of the Château de La Groulais. 250 people dress up besiege the castle and organise archers jousts...///
