Enniskillen is located almost exactly in the centre of the county on the natural island which separates the Upper and Lower sections of Lough Erne. The town centre is firmly built along the long, narrow Main St, which actually changes name six times along its length! The moorings are conveniently situated for the new Erneside shopping centre and further down the Lough is the Ardhowen Theatre, which offers a full and varied programme of entertainment.
Enniskillen Castle and Museum is also home to the Fermanagh County Museum and Regimental Museum of the Iniskilling Fusiliers. On the edge of the town is Castle Coole with its delightful parkland and neo-classical house. It is located on the Main Enniskillen Road (A4) 1.5 miles SE of Enniskillen. If you're feeling fit, climb Coles Monument which overlooks the town. It has 108 spiral steps leading to a viewing platform and offers magnificent views over the town and surrounding area. Adults £1, children 50p. The park itself also includes a children's play area.
The Buttermarket Craft & Design Centre at Eniskillen is housed in an early 19th century restored dairy market. The centre offers pottery, ceramic painting, jewellery making, framing, textiles, photography, wood turning and a number of artists galleries. Visitors are welcome to call in and watch the craft workers produce their goods.
The Lakeland Forum at Broadmeadow provides opportunities for sport and swimming, and an indoor play area for small children. The Round O playground is also useful for occupying small children for a few hours! Eniskellen offers a good range of shopping - if you're planning to explore some of the quieter areas, this would be a good place to stock up on provisions.

The Marble Arch Caves are one of Europe's finest show caves allowing visitors to explore a fascinating, natural underworld of rivers, waterfalls, winding passages and lofty chambers. Just southwest of Enniskillen and on the northern edge of the Cuilcagh Mountains they are well worth a visit. Accessible to a depth of some 700yd/640m, they contain weird stalactite and stalagmite formations, sinter terraces and waterfalls. Visitors can take a tour which starts with an underground boat trip (1.25 hours). The visitor center offers a geology exhibition and audio-visual presentation. Further afield, 20 miles away, the Ulster American Folk Park just outside Omagh is an award winning museum telling the story of emigration to the New World via displays, buildings, a replica ship and gallery.
