The city of Mirow lies between the charming forests and the lake district on the Mecklenburg lakeland plain. The romantic Chateau Island and the historic gatehouse, (built in 1588), of the residential chateau and the fine old Johannite Church are all an invitation to spend some time here and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. A visit to the Dendrological (arboretum) Gardens at "Erbsland" is a must. It was planted in 1887 with foreign trees and is one of the oldest gardens of its type in Germany.

A beautiful old town with baroque palace (18th century), castle island, Hospitaller church (14th century) with tower and crypt.

(1882-1918), gate lodge from 1588 (Renaissance), princess Sophie Charlotte, later wife of George III. and Queen of England and Ireland, was born in Mirow
